today was the day when the Kashmir was invaded by the indian army...today the Kashmiries observed black day and complete strike took place...all leaders house arrested...
Usually they foment violence. They are very lucky they don't get straffed from helicopters and shot at with tanks like Pashtoons and Baluchis. In Pakistan, either you are a 'patriot' or you are dead! Both China and Pakistan use 'Separatist' as a bad word when it is Tibetians, Uighers, Pashtoons, Baluchis etc. But I guess Indian Separatists are heroes.
No one else in India has noticed the day...thanks Leader for the news.
So much for having a free media! Just going through a few sites concerning how journalists are treated in Kashmir. I know you Blue always end up critisizing how media is censored in pakistan and jouranlists have no freedom and so on. Well maybe this will be an eye opener to you about what goes on in Kashmir
"On 24 August, police in Srinagar assaulted at least 13 journalists, including some from India's two main news agencies, the Press Trust and United News, report the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) and Reporters Without Borders (RSF). IFJ says a paramilitary force controlled by the Indian Union Government reportedly had orders to prevent journalists from going to work."
The IFJ is informed that a senior police official instructed his men to beat the journalists covering the demonstration, supposedly as a means of dispersing the protesters
I know these reports are from last year when some land was being given to a Hindu shrine or something but the important thing is that if this could happen then, then i see no reason why it wont happen again. You can live under the impression that your media tells you all thats happening in your country but sorry m8. That aint the case
"But this is the first commission to have studied the roots of the problems the Muslim community is facing and what the government has done for it in the last 50 years. Ghettoisation and insecurity have grown among Muslims after the demolition of the Babri Masjid in 1992. As a result, the percentage of Muslim children attending school and university has significantly gone down"
"The communal clashes that took thousands of human lives and destroyed property worth crores of rupees were the consequences of this game. The Congress appointed commission after commission to investigate the communal riots, but none of the big perpetrators has been convicted.
Instead of punishing the culprits, the police and the administration invariably prosecuted the innocent Muslim victims. The fear and anxiety this caused, and the cavalier approach of the government, resulted in low levels of progress among Muslims in education and commerce. During a span of 50 years, the entire community has been pushed into a vacuum of illiteracy and unemployment"
Hamza, about media in Pakistan, I think I point out that anybody who tries to investigate Pakistan's support (I mean official support) is intimidated if not killed. Even CONDUCTED tours of journalists of journalist in Pakistan-held Kashmir, left out Indian journalists from some locations.
Indian media reporting from Kashmir does not hold back... on crimes alleged to been committed by security forced. They don't wirte like apologists. In this paryicualr case, we know that there are stagemangaed 'demonstartions' in which the paid 'demonstrators' and mediapeople stage a drama to create a specific impression. There is a Pakistani funded faction of Hurriyat whose main job is this. The fact that they are able to operate with impunity shows you have considerable freedom of protest in India. That said, violent demonstrations carefully arranged to cause maximum disruption of business and peace and to disrupt tourism are quite common in Kashmir. If prohibitary orders are imposed to prevent violence, all violators are liable to be dispersed including journalists. Don't forget, that police is controlled by State Govt. International Journalists, use 'security forces' to give an impression they were paid for. This is not specific to Kashmir. In fact when property is damaged in rioting, police are blamed for not acting fast enough sometimes.
Regarding the article in the 'hindu', (irony!!) it has many leftist journalist who write one sided articles. Sweeping opinions. That you balance with others which are perhaps biased the other way. In this article for example, the write fails to mention that muslims are there very important technological programs and they are also some of the richest people here. Why are not Aziz Premji and Kalam the preferred role models? They are role models for everybody else! As far as I know, muslims get business from other communities without much discrimination. So there is no systemic discrimination, despite eagerness to create it from some muslim religious quarters. First, data has to be verified (we have a choice of BJP and Congress Govts to do this with two extreme biases). Next, if illiteracy data is true, muslim community has to look within itself for answers. That is the same in many other countries, eg, UK. Madrassa education makes you good for Jihad and little else. The same guys who propogate muslim nationalism are the ones responsible for their backwardness. In Kashmir they deliberately disrupt economic activity, so that unemployed youth can be harnessed for 'Jihad'.
I don't agree with the last paragraph. Saudi funded religiosity is the cause of muslim backwardness. Re. Employment: Youth are fed dreams making quick bucks in the middle east ; for this they Learn arabic, force women to wear burqa and generally try to display a 'more muslim than thou' attitude. When that doesn't work out (Middle east employers tend to be exploitive, remittances back home-handled through fellow muslims- are swindled) just blame the hindus, buddhists and Christians. If its happening in UK, Australia, France etc, problem is within the community, not outside it. Fear and anxiety are caused by the Clergy (just like in UK and Australia), whose ambition is to get get funds from Middle east and who don't hesitate to spread false rumours and lies. For example if you keep on alleging discrimination, it leads to low motivation to get an education. Of course, it gets pupils for the madrassas run by the clergy with Saudi money. So rather than police, administration and Govt. I would blame misdirected Saudi funding (with logistics kindly provided by your intelligence establishment) for general backwardness of muslims everywhere. I am hopeful of changing Saudi attitude. Now Pakistani attitude. Not rant against Islam, but politization of Islam. I have generally been comfortable with muslims who treat religion as personal
Special laws for 'minorities' allow govt aid to muslim run colleges and schools (even Universities). Totally unnecessory in my opinion.
'Exactly why pakistan was created'? What problems of muslims did it solve? Same old illiteracy and poverty!
By the way, everybody here, including Brahmins, Vaishaya, Christians, Dalitss, men, women,.. allege discrimination against themselves... I guess democracy really works!
