Topic: Biblical Prophecy
End Times Biblical Prophecy: What are the signs of the End of Times? Is Biblical Prophecy turning into current day events?
Cultures in every part of the world have focused on symbols and events that would signal when the end times would be upon us. Are those predictions coming to pass? Which predictions should we believe? And is it possible that in the 21st century, science and faith might come together to give us the answers?

I think that it's the digital age what makes it different. I am part of the lost generation as they say in my country. Taught and brought up for the analogue society but when grown up the signs of times shows elements of the introducing digital society. So...

When I was a kid I parroted 1+1=2 and learned that by heart never to forget anymore. 8 year old kids of now know why 1+1=2 and I still don't.

The schools in the Netherlands are practising IQ stimulating education. And that was different when I was a kid.

The end of the world has been predicted many times.
Here some failed predictions:
-400 Prophesy:
In the year 234 A.D. theologian and martyr Hippolytus prophesised that the appearance of the Antichrist which would be followed by the Lord’s return He believed that the world had a life span of 6,000 years and since Adam was born 5,500 years before Christ then the world had a sell by date of 500 A.D.
-989,Halley's Comet:
The appearance of Halley's Comet during August led to panic that it would collide with the Earth and destroy it.
-1000,The Second Coming:
As the end of the first millennium approached mass hysteria spread across the Christian world that the return of Christ was nigh. From beggar to king everyone believed that this would be the New Year party to end all parties and that Jesus would be guest of honour. During the year 999 there was a sudden burst or religious fervour with people selling of their worldly possessions and giving the money to the poor.Criminals were released from prisons. Believing that this was their last days of their life people stopped planting crops, neglected their property and flocked in huge numbers of pilgrims headed east to meet the Lord at Jerusalem.
-1666,Year of the Beast:
It was a devilish year containing that dreadful 666 number and with the bubonic plague killing 100,000 plus the Great Fire destroying much of London it was comprehensible that people considered it a "horrible year".
-1982,The Second Coming(Part Two):
On April 24-25, 1982,people around the world opened their morning newspaper to discover the rather disturbing headline announcing, "The Christ is Now Here!" and claiming that “Christ had returned to Earth in a materialized body in July, 1977, and has since been living among a group of Pakistani Indian immigrants in South London, England” Most folk just didn’t feel prepared for Judgement Day. Fortunately these full-page adverts, placed by the New Age religious group TARA Center, were mere speculation and several months later, with the world still in one piece, the group announced that they “the delay was only because the consciousness of the human race was not quite right."
-1984,Tenth Time Lucky:
The Jehovah's Witnesses predicted doomsday as 1984. However, as the got it wrong in 1874, 1878, 1881, 1910, 1914, 1918, 1925 and 1975,most folk could be forgiven for simply ignoring their warning.
-2000,666 Again:
If you divide 2000 by 3,you will get the devil's number 666.66666666666666666666. Coupled with the fact that all computers were probably going to crash on the stroke of midnight the end of the millennium was count down with considerable apprehension.
Needless to say computers continued to work with no more crashes than normal and the Devil failed to materialise.
-2008-MAR-21,World War:
The British group The Lord's Witnesses believe that the Bible contains codes which can be used to predict, amongst other events, the end of the World.Based on this code they have charted the history of Mankind from the birth of Adam in the year 4027 BC to its destruction in 2008 – the result of a horrific world war.
And this is the nearest doomsday prediction.
-2012,Mayan Calendar:
The Mayan calendar is divided into months of 20 days, years of 360 days, katun of 7200 days and a baktun of 144,000 days.According to this ancient civilization the world will last for exactly 13 baktun cycles. Their calendar started on 3114 BC with the birth of Venus and they expected the world to end during the Winter Solstice of 2012.
Will it be the umpteenth time lucky?
Given aforementioned failed predictions,I guess we can keep sleeping calm for many more years.

Numerology and astrology have nothing to do with the future, those are just personality teachings, nothing more and nothing less.

In the history of mankind, not only Christianity has predicted the End of the World/End of Time.

Nowadays the most famous prophecy is the one linked by ancient Mayans to the end of their cyclical calendar.

They believed that any end of this calendar saw a catastrophe and the end of "A World" with the birth of an "Other New World" [with even a new kind of human being].

As all around the world know, I'm making reference to year 2012.

Regarding the Christian theology, reality is that it's impossible to state an accurate date: it's Jesus to say this, and common sense should suggest us to hear to His words about this with attention. No one can know about the day and the hour. What about the year?

Religious organizations like JW start from this making hypothesis based on less or more complicated interpretation of Biblical prophecies.

A part that according to Hebrew Kabbalah a year could be a period up to 1,000 years [or only a day ...] ... in my opinion I cannot say how we can interprete the Bible to reach a sure date for the End of the World. Just my experience in the JW tells me this.

The last fashion regarding the "last generation" which would start with the State of Israel [1948], is not so accurate. Jerusalem became part of this Israel in the 60's ... and is this Israel really "Israel"? Or does it still miss something? I wonder ... so this famous "last generation" begins according to the wishes of who interprets the Biblical prophecies ...

Biblical Prophecy is evidence Christians hold to validate the Bible's claims of Divine inspiration. Is this authentic evidence or an illegitimate claim to bolster Christianity? Prophecy is defined as a Divine declaration of events yet to pass. As natural man is unable to foresee future events, prophecy would be an acceptable evidence of Divine inspiration. The Bible, written by at least 40 authors over a period of at least 1,500 years, is comprised of 66 books. These 66 books claim to contain over 1,000 Divinely inspired prophecies. We will examine a few...

Biblical Prophecy: Ezekiel 26
One example of Biblical Prophecy is found in the Book of Ezekiel. Chapter 26 of the Book of Ezekiel claims to have been written in 586 BC, the 11th year of the reign of King Zedekiah of Judah. On nine separate occasions throughout the chapter, the writer claims to have been inspired by God with statements such as "thus says the Lord GOD." The text describes the fall of mainland Tyre to the armies of Nebuchadnezzar the following year. It further describes the events of Alexander the Great's siege against the island fortress of Tyre (a half mile off the coast of mainland Tyre) 253 years later. The chapter describes how the invaders would tear down the ruins of mainland Tyre and throw it into the sea. That they would "scrape her dust from her and leave her as the top of a rock" (v4). That "they will lay your stones, your timber, and your soil in the midst of the water" (v12). "I will make you like the top of a rock; you shall be a place for spreading nets" (v14). Secular history records that Alexander the Great laid siege to the island fortress of Tyre in 332 BC. His army demolished mainland Tyre and threw it into the sea. In their effort to construct a causeway to the island, they scraped even the dust, leaving only bare rock. Historian Phillip Myers in his history textbook, General History for Colleges and High Schools (Boston, Ginn & Co.), writes, "Alexander the Great reduced Tyre to ruins in 332 BC. Tyre recovered in a measure from this blow, but never regained the place she had previously held in the world. The larger part of the site of the once great city is now as bare as the top of a rock -- a place where the fishermen that still frequent the spot spread their nets to dry" (pg.55). The fate of mainland Tyre was accomplished as foretold in the book of Ezekiel.

Biblical Prophecy: The Book of Daniel
Another example of Biblical Prophecy is found in the Book of Daniel. Because of the stunning foresight found within the Book of Daniel, it is claimed by its critics to have been written after the events it describes. For example, chapter 11 describes in such detail the interactions between the Ptolemies and the Selucids from the death of Alexander the Great to the rise of the Roman Empire, that critics insist it must have been written after 160 BC. However, Flavius Josephus, court historian for three successive Roman Emperors, records (Antiquities of the Jews XI, viii, 3-5) Alexander the Great receiving a copy of Daniel upon his annexation of Jerusalem in the autumn of 332 BC (immediately following his conquest of Tyre). Furthermore, the Septuagint (LXX) was translated from Hebrew into Greek in the 3rd century BC. Daniel is included in the Septuagint version. Daniel is also included in the Dead Sea Scrolls, which is dated from about 200 BC.

Biblical Prophecy: Daniel 9:25
A most compelling Biblical Prophecy is found in Daniel, chapter 9, verse 25. Written 500 years before the birth of Jesus Christ (the oldest preserved copy dating 200 years before the birth of Christ), it foretells the very day Christ would enter Jerusalem. The prophecy states: 69 weeks of years (69 x 7 = 483 years) would pass from the decree to rebuild Jerusalem, until the coming of the Messiah. This is according to the Babylonian 360-day calendar, since Daniel was written in Babylon during the Jewish captivity after the fall of Jerusalem. Thus, 483 years x 360 days = 173,880 days. According to records found by Sir Henry Creswicke Rawlinson in the Shushan (Susa) Palace, and confirmed in Nehemiah 2:1, this decree was made on March 14th, 445 BC, by Artaxerxes Longimanus. Exactly 173,880 days later, on April 6th, 32 AD, Jesus Christ rode into Jerusalem upon a colt (fulfilling the prophecy in Zechariah 9:9). The world celebrates this day as Palm Sunday. Four days later, Christ was murdered upon the cross. Actually, the form of His execution and even His last words were foretold in Psalm 22. Three days later, Jesus rose from the dead on Easter Sunday, fulfilling numerous other prophecies of our Messiah..
